Looking for a truly personal gift that doubles as a keepsake? A custom photo puzzle turns your favorite memory into an experience people will actually want to put together again and again. Here's everything you need to know — and where to get one made right.

What makes a custom puzzle worth giving?

1000 Piece Custom Puzzle

Not all custom puzzles are created equal. The difference between a memorable gift and a throwaway trinket often comes down to three things: print quality, the material the puzzle is made from, and how it arrives. A puzzle printed on thin, flimsy board with faded colors isn't going to make anyone feel special. But one printed sharp and crisp, built from premium board that holds up to dozens of assemblies, and delivered in a beautiful keepsake tin? That's a gift people keep.

At Pix on Puzzles, every order is reviewed by hand before it ships to make sure the print quality meets the mark. No automated assembly line — a real person checks your puzzle before it goes in the box.

What sizes are available?

Pix on Puzzles offers four sizes to suit different ages, occasions, and budgets. Smaller piece counts are great for younger puzzle lovers or as a fun activity at a gathering; larger counts are satisfying weekend projects for adults.

What are they made of?

Every puzzle is printed on Eska puzzle board — one of the most durable puzzle boards available anywhere. Pieces are thick, snap together cleanly, and won't warp or bend with repeated use. The print surface has a matte finish, which reduces glare and gives photos a premium, gallery-quality look compared to the glossy finish common on mass-market puzzles.

Eska board is used by premium puzzle manufacturers worldwide. It's heavier and more rigid than standard chipboard, which means pieces stay flat, fit together properly, and survive being assembled more than once — important for a gift meant to be used and treasured.

How does the ordering process work?

It's designed to be simple. You choose the piece count you want, upload your photo directly on the product page at pixonpuzzles.com, and check out. No design software, no emailing files back and forth, no confusion about formats. The whole process takes just a few minutes.

  • Upload any photo directly on the product page
  • Every order is reviewed for print quality before shipping
  • Order as few as one puzzle — no minimum order required
  • Free shipping on orders over $100 — ideal for bulk or corporate orders
  • Ships from Washington, Missouri with fast domestic delivery

How long does it take?

Most puzzles are printed within 5 business days, then shipped with an estimated delivery window of 2 to 5 additional business days. Plan for roughly 1.5 to 2 weeks from order to arrival — or order a little earlier if it's for a specific date like a birthday or anniversary.

How does it arrive?

This is where Pix on Puzzles genuinely stands apart. Instead of arriving in a standard cardboard puzzle box, every custom puzzle ships in a metal tin with your own image printed on the lid. That's not a small detail — it means the packaging itself becomes part of the gift. No wrapping paper needed. The tin is something the recipient will keep long after the puzzle is assembled.

What occasions work best for a custom photo puzzle?

Custom photo puzzles have become one of the most versatile gifts on the market because almost any meaningful photo works as the image. Popular occasions include:

Weddings Engagements Baby announcements Birthdays Anniversaries Family portraits Retirement gifts Work milestones

They also make a thoughtful corporate gift — a team photo, a company milestone, or a branded image printed on a puzzle is far more memorable than a gift card or a branded mug. Because there's no minimum order, you can order one for a single person or a hundred for a whole department.

Is this the best place to get a custom puzzle made?

There are plenty of places online that will print a photo on a puzzle. What sets Pix on Puzzles apart is the combination of things that are easy to overlook until you've received a bad one: premium Eska board, matte finish printing, hand-reviewed quality control, and metal tin packaging that makes the gift feel intentional rather than mass-produced. Starting at $19.99 for a 120-piece puzzle, it's also priced to be genuinely accessible without cutting corners on materials.

If you want a custom puzzle made that will actually impress someone, this is where to get it done.

I have 500 IPA bottles and cans I would like to turn into a jigsaw puzzle. My issue is how to get all those different items into on large puzzle. Very motivated, but stuck onnhow to get this started. One pig picture, separate smaller pictures separated by containger size? Labels only? Please advise, and I hope we can find a way.
